Non Sapevo Amore is Devi Tensione’s second album, coming after “Un sisma mentre ci voltiamo di spalle” (Union Editions 2021) and Tanto Tempo EP (Riforma 2022).

A bunch of stunning and powerful songs squeezed in a few minutes. In “Non Sapevo Amore” we can hear for the first time the outcome of Devi Tensione’s research in voice digitisation and alteration, with a brilliant deconstruction of songwriting in his personal approach. The journey is scattered by HD sounds and pop melodies, enriched by flowing pauses and ambient fragments (Tendo). We are deeply thrilled of this long waited album, on which he started working during 2019, evolving among different phases of Devi Tensione human and artistic development.

NSA is released as a limited edition of 50 jewelcased CDs and as a decomposed digital pack. 'Non Sapevo Amore' folders are provided at devitensione.com.

Inside you will find a DIY kit for home-mades NSA CD-r (printable cover and audio files), along with all the previous versions of the songs + some unreleased tracks and, most importantly, a deconstructed perspective through the work. Hence, Devi Tensione and The Other made available all the sources behind the artistic process that led to the creation of artwork and music itself: samples, field recordings, stems, grids, colors and paintings layers.

The process of opening up the work, splitting it by allowing those who wish to enter into it, manipulate it and enjoy it, returns the sense of a 'pop' art in its folk meaning. The sharing of resources and knowledge is the cornerstone of devitensione.com, which somehow in its own small way takes on a symbolic value. Using digital networking to bridge distances and create new possibilities for gathering, even through a record or an artwork.

The artwork is curated by The Other, an overlap of different layers painted with different techniques, here you have an excerpt from his meditations creating it.

"To love means a movement towards the other, which arise mediatic distance between two objects, in the frame of a reciprocal linking; the subsequent rhythm is that of a flatting interpolation, a continuous/monotonous tone. The only thing to be so continuous and homogeneous is indifference, the opposite of love and therefore life. Love as an heteronormative practice becomes the formal rule of life, geological space clot in vertiginuous peaks of gravitational frictions, giving birth to random, radically different forms: while they collide with each other, they warp the liminal space of difference between them, transforming it in a 3d membrane that allows their respective identities to fully unfold. Proximity is, in a sense, the opposite of movement, because the formal ambiguity of life instantly recreates the same warped space, a negative space of fluid complementarity, of distance, amid different identities. This space is a place filled with necrotic slime made of the flesh of the in-betweeners, the ones who touch the bad and good, without definition.

“Non sapevo amore”, “didn’t know love” is an indifference withdrawal, it means to forget the action when it becomes a hope, a promise of repetition in a hierarchical superimposed reality. It looks for this in a negative way, it transfigures the loved one into an object to link with in a void-cavern, at the same time glimpsing from shadowing hypothetical self-projections, form of the whole as a sum of knowing/not-knowing, a place where you can move still."
