about

Memorial Dodging is the first four-tracks album from BATCH #2, a periodic series of digital eps edited by Riforma. A bunch of unreleased pieces and reworks from the weirdo sonic environment, with unique paintings as artworks.

4-09(mm);ss;m(') and Crapatouille are two granular daydreams in Bob Hermit’s world. Emerging from his experiments on CDP (Composer Desktop Project, software initially developed by Trevor Wishart) and electroacustic reasearch, this pair of compositions articulate a wide range of impulses and stationary fields, as pseudo-magical and mysterious as they are aggressive and heartrending. Within brief timespans, sound masses and objects dilate and decompose, parting in different directions, abruptly stopping and reshaping their morphologies. Starting from a small number of initial sound samples, Bob Hermit pulverises and resynthesizes them to build a photosynthetic smear that articulates through time: in this process, the interrelationships between sound elements become more important than the underlying rhythmic frame.

Both reworks take up and exaggerate this double layer on which the ep move: in the reformulation proposed by KUTHI JIN, a chaotic and accelerated explosion of samples takes place, a sequence of concatenated and contrasting force fields that sustains the entire track. Memorial Dodging ends with a version of "Crapatouille" scanned by the rhythmic patterns of Nesso: digital drums slide with speed and intensity over the resampling of the original track, driving the obsessive and coarse framework in a kinetic zone. The rework reprograms and deconstruct the original sounds mixing them with intricate and mutable rythms typical of nesso’s style. The use of self built softwares and programming environments higly affects the sonic output and creative process, contamitaning the original materials from a human and artificial perspective.

The artwork is a frame from an original painting by Federika Fumarola:

Era già sasso (MN) 2021
:
Radical adaptation to undefined margins
Rarifies fog, ancestral thinnings
Fighting for the being
Super starred sky
We sleep nights that echoes twilight loops
On a perpetual note

Bob Hermit is a composer of humanoid sounds from Monterotondo, Italy, currently based in Reykjavík. Sprung from Misto Mame, his current interests span from electronic songwriting to contemporary research in sonic arts, beside running BohReal?! Records.

Nesso (aka Francesco Corvi) is a live coder, sound designer, multimedia artist and developer active in the Algorave and live coding communities.
He creates and performs music using open source programming languages working at the intersection of computer music, electroacoustic, post IDM and deconstructed club.

Kuthi jin moves everywhere between the low tek and pineal grooves of the world. Now active in the www underground with his imprint CLAM.pressure, keeps pushing the boundaries of new extreme sonic languages.
